WA Nursing & Midwifery Excellence Awards

The WA Nursing & Midwifery Excellence Awards are the annual highlight of the nursing and midwifery calendar. It is a wonderful occasion that brings together nurses, midwives, health care professionals and government officials from all over Western Australia.

Save the date !

We are very pleased to announce some exciting changes for the WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards program.

After consulting with representative from the many sectors of the WA nursing and midwifery professional community, a decision was made to re-align the Gala Ball with International Nurses and Midwives Week on a permanent basis.

So save the date in the diary now! The next Gala Ball will be on Saturday 9 May 2015.

While this means there will be a one-off, extra six months to wait between Gala Balls, the delay does create a few advantages. As mentioned, it allows this highlight in the nursing and midwifery calendar to align better with International Day of the Midwife (5 May) and International Nurses Day (12 May).

The availability of venues, large enough to host this event, over recent years has seen the scheduling of our Gala Ball drift later into the year and away from the traditional month of May. When suitable venues were proving unavailable for 2014, this gave the NMEA organising committee a chance to re-think dates and to secure May as the month that the Awards will be held permanently.

The 9 May 2015 date also means you now have an opportunity to submit award nominations open over a much longer timeframe. Nominators will be able to submit their nominations as they witness excellence, rather than waiting for the relatively small window of opportunity previously offered.

Nominations for the 2015 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards will open on Monday 12 May 2014 and close on 30 January 2015.
